Lately I have been working a lot on making prints with image transfers. It is a tedious process but I have really been liking the results. After a while I decided to try and have some fun with the process and see how well they would travel as postcards in the mail. It took a lot longer to make them than I expected but they came out great.
I picked 10 images from trips to my trips to Korea and Horn Island, designed a back for the cards, and put out a message on instagram for peoples addresses as a giveaway. Making their way through the postal system was part of the process, getting scuffed and dinged, but they all arrived looking great. I don’t think I can do this for free again but the project was definitely a success.
All of the cards are 5.5x7.5x0.25 in. and I used poplar, oak, and pine for different cards to sample different wood grains. And all of the images are from scanned film.
